Description
Grimmia arenaria (also called Sand Grimmia, among many other common names) is a species of moss belonging to the Grimmiaceae family. It is a small, yellowish-green moss with a curved, glossy, and often shiny stem. It is native to North America, Europe, and Asia, and is found in sandy habitats such as deserts and beaches.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Grimmia arenaria has small, yellow-green flowers, and its seeds are tiny, dark brown and elliptical. The seedlings are small, with a single leaf that is lanceolate in shape.
Cultivation and Propagation
Grimmia arenaria can be propagated by spores or by division of the plant. Cultivation of Grimmia arenaria requires a well-draining soil and a shady location. The soil should be kept moist, but not wet. Fertilization is not necessary.
