Description
Cymbidium atropurpureum (also called Atropurpure Cymbidium, among many other common names) is a terrestrial orchid species native to Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. It is found in moist montane forests, often in association with mosses and ferns. It has an erect stem with a single, terminal inflorescence, and its leaves are lanceolate and arranged in two ranks.
Cultivation and Propagation
Cymbidium atropurpureum is a terrestrial orchid that grows in moist, well-drained soils in partial to full shade. It is best propagated by division of the rhizomes. The plant can also be propagated by seed, but it is a slow process.
