Description

Sarracenia gilpinii (also called Cobra Plant, among many other common names) is a carnivorous plant native to the southeastern United States. It is a perennial herbaceous plant that grows in wet, acidic soils in bogs, swamps, and savannas. It has a rosette of leaves that are green with red veins and a hood-like structure at the top of each leaf. The hoods are filled with liquid and attract insects which are then trapped and digested by the plant.
