Description
Psychotria karemaensis (also called Karema Psychotria, among many other common names) is a shrub or small tree that grows up to 10 m tall. It is native to tropical regions of the Americas, from Mexico to Argentina, and is found in moist forests and along riverbanks. Its leaves are opposite, elliptic to oblong, 6–12 cm long, and 3–6 cm wide.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Psychotria karemaensis has white flowers with a yellow center and a five-lobed corolla. The seeds are small, black, and glossy. The seedlings are small, with dark green leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Psychotria karemaensis can be propagated from seed or cuttings. Seeds should be sown in a well-drained soil mix and kept moist. Cuttings should be taken from mature, healthy plants and rooted in a moist soil mix. Both methods should be done in a warm, humid environment.
