Description
Psychotria kamialii (also called Kamiali's Psychotria, among many other common names) is a shrub or small tree that grows up to 10 m tall. It is native to tropical regions of the Americas, from Mexico to Argentina, and is found in moist forests and along riverbanks. Its leaves are opposite, elliptic to oblong, 6–12 cm long, and 3–6 cm wide.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Psychotria kamialii has white flowers with a yellow center and a five-lobed corolla. The seeds are small, black, and glossy. The seedlings are small, with dark green leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Psychotria kamialii can be propagated by seed or cuttings. Seeds should be sown in a well-drained potting mix and kept moist. Cuttings should be taken from semi-ripe wood and treated with a rooting hormone before being placed in a well-drained potting mix. Keep the cuttings moist and in a warm, humid environment until they have rooted.
