Description
Psychotria amaracarpoides (also called Amara-like Wild Coffee, among many other common names) is a shrub or small tree up to 5 m tall, native to the Himalayas and the mountains of Central Asia, growing in open forests and scrub at elevations of 2,000–3,500 m. It has ovate-lanceolate leaves, white flowers, and red fruits.
Uses & Benefits
Psychotria amaracarpoides is used in traditional medicine for treating fever, malaria, and other illnesses. It is also used as an ornamental plant in gardens.
Cultivation and Propagation
Psychotria amaracarpoides can be propagated from seed or from cuttings. Seeds should be sown in a well-drained soil mix and kept at a temperature of around 25°C. Cuttings should be taken from healthy, mature plants and rooted in a moist soil mix. Keep the soil mix moist and provide plenty of light and warmth.
