Description

Hordeum stenostachys (also called Slender-Spiked Barley, among many other common names) is an annual grass species in the genus Hordeum. It is native to the Mediterranean region and grows in meadows, steppes, and other open habitats. It has a short stem and a spikelet with two to four flowers. The spikelet is usually green, but can also be yellow or purple.

Uses & Benefits

Hordeum stenostachys is used as a forage crop for livestock, as well as for soil erosion control and as a cover crop. It is also used in landscaping and as a decorative plant.
