Description
Hordeum capense (also called Cape Barley, among many other common names) is a species of grass native to South Africa. It is a tufted perennial grass that grows in clumps and can reach up to 1 meter in height. It prefers moist, well-drained soils in meadows and grasslands.

Hordeum capense is used as a forage crop for livestock, as a soil stabilizer, and as an ornamental plant.
