Description
Dissotis densiflora (also called Densiflorous Dissotis, among many other common names) is a shrub or small tree of the family Melastomataceae. It is native to the Andes of Colombia and Ecuador, where it grows in humid montane forests. It has ovate-lanceolate leaves that are up to 8 cm long and 4 cm wide, and white flowers with yellowish spots.
Uses & Benefits
Dissotis densiflora is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and as a hedge. It has a high tolerance for drought and can be used to create a windbreak. The leaves of the plant are used to make a tea that is believed to have medicinal properties.
