Description
Vitex agnus-castus (also called chaste tree, chasteberry, Abraham's balm, lilac chastetree, or monk's pepper, among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant in the verbena family. It is native to the Mediterranean region, from central to southern Europe, east to central Asia, and south to northern Africa. It is a deciduous shrub growing to 5 m tall, with aromatic leaves and purple flowers. It prefers moist, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade.
