Description
Diastema scabrum (also called Rough Diastema, among many other common names) is a perennial herb with linear to lanceolate leaves and white, yellow, or pink flowers. It is native to the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America, and South America, and is found in dry, open areas, such as grasslands and scrublands.

Diastema scabrum has small, white flowers with yellow anthers and a single style. The seeds are small, black and shiny. The seedlings are small and have a single, slender stem.
