Description

Sloanea ensiformis (also called Red Birch, among many other common names) is a species of flowering tree in the Elaeocarpaceae family. It is native to Central and South America, and is found in tropical and subtropical moist lowland forests. It typically grows up to 15-20 m tall, with a trunk diameter of up to 45 cm.
