Description

Cynoglossum yemenense (also called Yemen Hound's Tongue, among many other common names) is a herbaceous perennial native to Yemen. It has a creeping stem and long, narrow leaves. The flowers are small and blue, and the fruits are small, black berries. It prefers moist, shady habitats.

Cultivation and Propagation

Cynoglossum yemenense can be propagated by seed or division. Seeds should be sown in spring in a cold frame and the seedlings planted out in the summer. Division in spring or autumn. Larger divisions can be planted out direct into their permanent positions. We have found it best to pot up the smaller divisions and grow them on in a lightly shaded position in a cold frame, planting them out once they are well established in the summer.
