Description
Stereospermum euphorioides (also called Indian rose chestnut, among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant in the family Bignoniaceae. It is a small to medium-sized deciduous tree, growing up to 8 m tall. It is native to India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and southern China. It is found in tropical and subtropical moist lowland forests.
Cultivation and Propagation
Stereospermum euphorioides is a fast-growing, evergreen shrub that can reach up to 6 m in height. It is best grown in full sun or partial shade in well-drained soils. Propagation is usually done through cuttings or seeds. Cuttings should be taken from semi-hardwood in late spring or early summer. Seeds should be sown in spring or early summer in a warm, sunny location.
