Description
Alyxia kaalaensis (also called Kaala Alyxia, among many other common names) is a small, spreading shrub that grows up to 2 m in height. It has smooth, grey bark and lance-shaped leaves that are about 8 cm long and 1 cm wide. It is native to Hawaii, and grows in a variety of habitats, including sand plains, sand dunes, and rocky hillsides.

Alyxia kaalaensis is a medium-sized evergreen tree, typically reaching heights of up to 15m. It is widely cultivated for its timber, which is used for a variety of applications, including construction, furniture making, and firewood. Propagation is usually done by seed, which should be sown in a well-draining, sandy soil mix. Germination typically takes between two and four weeks. Once the seedlings have developed their first true leaves, they should be transplanted into individual pots and grown in a sunny position.
