Description
Alstonia macrophylla (also called White Cheesewood, among many other common names) is a small tree native to Australia. It has large, ovate leaves and small, white, bell-shaped flowers. It grows in heathlands, woodlands, and dry sclerophyll forests.
Uses & Benefits
Alstonia macrophylla is used for timber, fuelwood, and medicinal purposes. It is also used as an ornamental plant and for reforestation.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Alstonia macrophylla has small white flowers with yellow-orange lips. The seeds are small, black and round. The seedlings are small and green.
Cultivation and Propagation
Alstonia macrophylla is a small shrub that can be propagated from cuttings or seeds. Cuttings should be taken from semi-hardwood and treated with a rooting hormone. Seeds should be sown in a well-draining potting mix and kept moist until germination. Once the seedlings are established, they should be transplanted into larger containers and given sufficient water and light.
