Spanish exports of fresh fruit and vegetables to the EU stood at 938,451 tons in January, representing 82% of the total, worth 1,319 million euros. These figures represent a decrease of 9% compared to the same month in 2022 both in volume and value, according to the latest data made public by Fepex.
Among the main markets for Spanish fruit and vegetables, Germany, France and the Netherlands reduced their purchases in volume, although they increased spending, in line with the overall data.
Thus, exports to Germany totaled almost 316,000 tons, 9% less, for a value of 468 million euros, up 10%.
In the case of France, the volume exported amounted to 193,773 Tn (-4 %) for a value of 262.3 million euros (+11 %); while exports to the Netherlands totaled 105,104 metric tonnes (-8 %) and 157 million euros (+10 %).
Extra-EU exports
As regards exports to third party countries, these reached 210,349 metric tonnes for a value of 326.6 million euros; that is, 12 % less in volume and 2 % more in value, according to data from the Customs and Excise Department processed by Fepex.
United Kingdom, with purchases from Spain of 143,040 tons (+11%) worth 227 million euros (+3%), remains the main non-EU destination for Spanish fruit and vegetable exports.
