Increase in egg imports
In a context of declining production, the volumes of imported eggs increased by 28.4% over one year, especially those of shell eggs from Poland. Exports of shell eggs and food products fell by 22.8%.
In addition, the placement of laying pullets is stable over a year. Therefore, consumer egg production is likely to increase by 2.0% between March 2022 and March 2023 to 3.9 billion units in the first quarter of 2023.
