We provide high quality Ethiopia sorrel to the local and export market. We source the raw fresh Ethiopia sorrel from family growers from Ethiopia.

Ethiopia sorrel (Rumex acetone) refers to a herb that is harvested twice a year. It has the same appearance as spinach though on a lighter note as its leaves are pale green. It serves in both salad dressings and traditional medicine. It thrives in Africa in places like Nigeria, Ethiopia and Benin, but it is native to countries north of the Mediterranean. The plant can be harvested several times in a season as it shoots copiously soon after the outlying leaves are pruned.

Each serving of sorrel comes with a total fat content of 1 percent of which cholesterol is zero. The Vitamin A and C content both clock at 80 percent of the daily needs for good eyesight and immunity against diseases respectively. Each serving is also good for increasing circulation within the system with a 13 percent iron per serving. Consuming sorrel may also have some anti-cancer effects. For people with eating disorders, consuming this herb may boost appetite. It also has anti-aging effects.

We harvest Ethiopia sorrel when the outer leaves are still tender and in a deep green color. The best determinant for our family growers of maturity is when the entire plants are between 4 and 6 inches in height. We use sharp scissors to hand-pick the outlying leaves. We leave the inner shoots to develop for the next harvest. Ethiopia farmers grow the red and Jamaican sorrel varieties that are native to Africa.

We source Ethiopia sorrel from many parts of the country where the locals use it for thickening stews and soups. Each family grower plants the crop in an intercropping format alongside other herbs like basil and tarragon. We only derive the herb from farmers with a good record of organic farming. They usually use no farm sprays and cultivate with farm post manure.

We transport fresh sorrel from Ethiopian farms in plastic protective bags. This reduces the needs to pre-cool the crop at less than 2° Celsius as much of the field heat will have been lost in these bags.

We pack fresh sorrel leaves in clamshells. The idea is to keep them bruise-free as other hard materials like crates may be rough on the tender leaves. Each package consists of bunches made up of 10 to 20 leaves. We wrap the bundles in polyethylene before inserting them in clamshells or custom produce boxes. We also pack Ethiopia sorrel in dried form for food seasoning. We have packets that come from about 2 ounces weight and above of the dried herb.

Immediately after packing is over, we store Ethiopia sorrel leaves fresh just above freezing point. We maintain a base temperature of 2° Celsius and a maximum of 4° Celsius.

Transportation from the farm to the airport takes place through refrigerated vehicles. We maintain atmospheric modification so that the produce will arrive in your destination 99.26 percent the way it was from the farm. We ship the produce by air, which means fast delivery to Europe, Middle-east and other parts of the world.

If you would like a shipment of Ethiopia sorrel, do not hesitate to contact us. We source the herb from family growers who are accredited with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) certificates. We tailor the produce quantity to your specific tonnage and thus you can request both custom and multi-ton orders. While our quality and quantity are unquestionable, our low prices are even more so as they reflect on your budget. Go ahead and make an order today!
