Ethiopia Karite nut (Sheanut) is a wild tree that can develop up to a maximum height of 25 meters. The term karite derives from the Spanish word for the fruits. It bears small berries of at least 8 centimeters across, each weighing between 10 and 50 grams. Its leaf formation is spiral and grow in thickset bunches that form at the end of the branches. The fruits that produce sheanut butter can contain one or two nuts per bunch. They are popular for their energy supply for people in the midst of drought. The fruit also undergoes processing for feeding livestock. There are fast extraction methods in processing plants within Ethiopia that have been providing milling services for farmers, when they bring their supplies to the factories.

We source our karite nuts from the western region of Ethiopia. The tree thrives in the drier parts of the savannah-clad foothills of the high altitude regions. One traditional source is the Gambella settlement to the west of Addis Ababa near the Sudan borderline. Shea butter, the main product of the tree, has been under production by tribal women in the place for ages. The advantage of the tree is that it grows naturally in the wild, though recent efforts have seen it turn into properly cultivated orchards. The disadvantage is that the tree needs to have been in the field for at least twenty-three to forty years for it to mature, but thereafter its supply of the shea fruit is perpetual.

The main use of Ethiopia karite nuts is to treat diseases through the extra nutrients such as tannins. These are important for keeping the blood sugar levels down for persons with diabetes or obesity. Its nutrition consists of high levels of potassium at 16.2 grams and calcium at 2.5 grams. However, manganese and zinc minerals are as high as 276 and 176 grams respectively, with iron peaking at 459 grams. It has protein levels of 14.4 percent and thus its popularity as commercial animal feed.

We provide only unrefined karite nuts which have the same ingredients with no additives as the traditional extracted butter. We also offer table sheanuts in raw form for processing. To prevent severe overheating, we sideline the use of hexane, an additive that is common in the industrial extraction of the butter from the ground seeds.

We pack the raw unprocessed Ethiopia karite nuts in 75-kilo or 85-kilo jute bags that are similar to rice sacks. We only select fruits that have undergone drying and have no contaminants. This takes place after meticulous washing, following hygienic handling. Our workers wear sanitary gloves when sorting the dried nuts. You can place an order in terms of hundreds of kilos or tons, depending on availability.

Thus, if you are looking forward to the best Ethiopia kola nuts from the Gambella foothills, you have our word for a high quality shipment. We include competitive pricing in every order and provide quality parameters. Because the nuts grow quite well in relatively dry areas, they do not attract little pests and thus have no artificial chemicals.
