We provide high-quality Rwanda papaya to the local and export markets. We source the raw fresh Rwanda papaya from family growers in the country.

Rwanda papaya (Carica papaya L.) is a nutritious fruit in an oblong shape that does well under the mild temperature of 20 degrees Celsius in the land of a thousand hills. The country grows mainly the enormous variety that is notable for its massive size with yellow flesh and skin when ripe. It thrives in the highlands where the locals refer to it as ipapai in Kinyarwanda. Most of the farmers of the crop grow it for income generation. The original home of C. papaya was Mexico and the surrounding lands in Central America. It sprouts from the merging of one or two wild varieties.

Each papaya comes with a nutritious mix of vitamins and minerals. Vitamin C stands at 62 milligrams per 100 grams, fit enough for disease prevention. The level of potassium is 182 milligrams per 100 grams, fair enough for balancing blood electrolytes. The margin of protein is 470 milligrams per 100 grams. It is also an energy-giving fruit with a calories count of 42.78. In the disease department, regular intake of the pawpaw keeps the menstruation cycle in women regular.

We source Rwanda papaya from the Nyanza region in the south. We also have suppliers from Kayonzi, Rubavu, and Gikongoro. Virtually all of our contracted family growers cultivate the fruit in plots of less than 2 acres. They use traditional methods to preserve the fruit tree. For instance, they forgo chemical sprays in favor of traditional pest management. They also do away with fertilizers for well-rotten cow dung manure.

We harvest Rwanda papaya when at least a third of the fruit has attained a suffusion of yellow over the glowing green color. All the fruits must be firm before picking to ensure that they stay unripe during transit. Our experienced workers harvest the fruits using long bamboo poles with catching nets and cutlery attached at the end. The team also handpicks the pieces that hang from the branches within reach. The harvest goes to the packing shed in baskets by mid-morning to prevent dehydration from the sun.

We treat the Rwanda papaya harvest to a hot dip of water inside the cooling chamber. The intent is to prevent the infestation of the fruits with post-harvest stage pests.  We also sort the healthiest ones from the blemished ones before packing them. For the enormous variety, we look for uniform-sized fruits with blemish-free skins and a firm, unripe texture.

We wrap each of the Rwanda papayas in polyurethane to protect it against bruising and friction from its neighbors. The wrapper also offers modified aeration for the pieces during travel. We extend each sleeve only to the lower half of the pawpaw while the upper portion remains free. We then put each into a carton or a custom basket for shipping. We attach designate labels including the packing date, the net weight, the number of pieces and the destination.

We store Rwanda papaya at the optimal temperature of 7 to 10 degrees Celsius. This gives the fruit a shelf life of 21 to 28 days. It also prevents chilling injury which occurs at lower temperatures.

We transport the pawpaws to the airport in Kigali via our hydro-cooled trucks. Between the date of the shipment and arrival at your destination, we give a grace period of 1 to 2 days.

We are therefore your perfect option for the delivery of choice Rwanda papayas right from family growers. We obtain our fruits from Global Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)-certified sources to boost quality. We also enhance the quantity premise by having surplus supplies in season throughout the season. You will also find our prices entirely fair as we tailor them to your budget. Make an order today!
