We provide high-quality Rwanda lily to the local and export markets. We source the raw fresh cut Rwanda lilies from family growers in the nation.

Rwanda lily (Lilium candidum) is a popular flower that grows from a bulb and bears huge standing out blooms. Uncharacteristically for bulbous plants, this flower has a sweet scent. It also uses its aerial roots to bring stability to the half-exposed bulb over the soil’s surface. Most blossoms are white-colored with yellow pistils. Rwanda’s most famous ‘lily’ is the water lily, a small 0.5-inch diameter flower. This one is not a part of the Lilium family. Rather, it comes from the nymphaea family and thus it is not a true lily. Rwanda’s true lilies bear funnel-shaped flowers with dark red stamen in their middle.

The origin of the lily was the northern hemisphere. Most countries in Europe have these temperate climate-loving blooms in one form or another. The tropics have also emerged as new growers of this commercial flower.

We source Rwanda lily from the eastern region and other parts of the country. Our family growers cultivate the flowers in fields of less than 2 acres. They easily manage the little pieces of land with farmyard manure for soil enrichment. They also forgo the excessive use of chemical sprays to maintain the produce’s health.

We harvest Rwanda lilies when the spadix (tiny central florets) is visible in the half-open buds. Our trained team then cuts off the whole sheath. They later cut it diagonally to the appropriate size. The masterly cut helps provide enough room for the flower to take in water during its temporary handling period.

Soon after their harvest, we sort Rwanda lilies regarding size, shape, cultivar and color. At the same time, we cull all wilted, bruised and discolored flower heads to decrease contact. We then bundle up the healthiest stems in bunches of 10 to 12 stems.

We pack Rwanda lilies in both single and bunched forms. The bunch consists of at most a dozen stalks.  We enclose them in plastic sleeves that offer proper aeration and moisture retention. The bundles then go into the box in a single layer. Soft wax papers separate each sleeve from the next to prevent contact between the flower heads. We finalize by sticking labels of the name of the produce, the source, the net weight, date of packing and the destination.

We also use hampers to pack the lilies. These are multipurpose vases that resemble baskets. They have interior demarcations that separate the blooms and thus prevent unsafe contact. They are also appropriate for multiple uses including serving as alternatives to bouquets.

We store Rwanda lilies in a cool, dry condition while half-dipped in purified water. We keep the temperature at the lowest threshold of 0 to 1 degree Celsius. The effect of this careful handling is the maintenance of natural colors. It also helps retain the upright posture of the stems. Indeed, gravity makes the stems to bend but immediate cooling after the harvest reduces the effect.

We transport Rwanda lilies by our hydro-cooled trucks to the airport in Kigali. You can expect a delivery period of one to two days after dispatch depending on your part of the globe.

We are without a doubt the best-placed provider of Rwanda lilies which we source from only family growers. Our quality promise lies in the fact that we only deal with Global Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)-certified sources. You will also have the right quantity as we offer surplus during the high season. Our prices too are beyond reproach as we tailor them to your budget. Make an order today!
