We provide high quality Ethiopia pea beans to the local and export market. We source the raw fresh Ethiopia pea beans from family growers from Ethiopia.

Ethiopia pea beans (Phaseolus aegypticus) are some of the most lucrative leguminous sources of income for farmers. About 90 percent of the crop goes to foreign markets where demand is high. The country has two seasons for the fresh produce. The first one is spring, which is the short-rain season of the first three months of the year. The summer crop, however, of July through August when there is heavy rainfall, sees bumper harvests.

The pea bean differs from the other pea varieties of the species Pisum savitum that consist of snow and snap peas in that only its seeds are edible. The others whose origin may have been Ethiopia undergo whole consumption including their pods.

We source our Ethiopia pea beans from the Central Rift, where the crop grows next to the common bean and the haricots. Our specific farming belts include West Hararghe and also East Hararghe. The local varieties are white colored. They differ from other world cultivars that may have red-brown variations even where the majority are white.

The nutritional value of the pea bean is mainly protein which stands at 10 percent of the daily value or 5 grams. Dietary fiber content reaches 20 percent of the daily value. The vitamin content is relatively high. The immunity nutrient, Vitamin C is substantial at 66 percent of the daily nutritional needs. Vitamin A stands at 15 percent while vitamin B-6 is around 10 percent of the daily value.

We value the hygiene of harvesting this produce and this is why our pickers of Ethiopia pea beans wear aprons and farm gloves when handling the drying pods. Each pod undergoes careful handpicking so as not to contaminate the internal seeds. We also spread the carted crop onto a flat packing shed for removing the field heat. This precedes the shelling of the peas from the pods and then packing, with shipping following suit.

We pack Ethiopia pea beans in fresh but dry form. We keep them in half bushel produce boxes that weigh around 15 pounds. We also keep them in larger boxes of between 12 to 14 kilograms either in wooden crates, cartons or special baskets.

We transport the pea beans under pre-cooled temperature of around 0° Celsius and conserve them with around 14 percent moisture content. Our special delivery trucks provide ready conveyance from the family growers’ farms to Addis Ababa for storage or direct shipment.

Therefore, this is the perfect time to place an order before the season is over. We source the crop two times a year from Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)-certified farmers in the central Rift Valley. While our quality is unquestionably high, our quantity is in your hands as we leave you to specify your tonnage. We deliver the order to your destination on the same due date whereby you can expect arrival in one to two days depending on your part of the world. Our prices are quite low and reflect the current market conditions. Talk to us today for more information!
