Description
Urera killipiana (also called False Nettle, False Nettle Tree, or False Nettle Bush, among many other common names) is a small, evergreen shrub native to Mexico and Central America. It has oval, bright green leaves with serrated edges and grows in a bushy pattern. It is found in shady, humid, and rocky habitats.
Uses & Benefits
Urera killipiana has many non-medical uses, including as an ornamental plant, a ground cover, and a source of food for birds and other animals. It can also be used to help control erosion and improve soil fertility.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Urera killipiana has small, yellowish-green flowers and small, black seeds. The seedlings are small and delicate, with small, oval-shaped leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Urera killipiana is an evergreen shrub that is easy to propagate. It can be propagated from stem cuttings. Take a stem cutting from the plant and remove the lower leaves. Place the stem cutting in a pot filled with moist soil and keep it in a warm, humid place. The cutting should take root in a few weeks. Once the cutting has taken root, it can be transplanted into a larger pot.
