Uses & Benefits
Poikilospermum suaveolens has many non-medical uses, including as an ornamental plant, a ground cover, and a source of food for birds and other animals. It can also be used to help control erosion and improve soil fertility.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Poikilospermum suaveolens has small, white flowers with four petals. Its seeds are small, black and round. The seedlings are small and have a single, oval-shaped leaf.
Cultivation and Propagation
Poikilospermum suaveolens can be propagated by division of the rhizomes or by seed. For division, the rhizomes should be divided in spring or autumn. For seed, the seeds should be sown in spring in a cold frame or in a greenhouse. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, they should be transplanted into individual pots and grown on in the greenhouse for their first winter. Plant out in late spring or early summer.
