Description
Laportea bulbifera (also called Bulbiferous Laportea, among many other common names) is an herbaceous perennial plant with a creeping habit. It is native to East Africa, and is found in moist, shady areas in forests. It grows up to 1 m tall.
Uses & Benefits
Laportea bulbifera has many non-medical uses, including as an ornamental plant, a ground cover, and a source of food for birds and other animals. It can also be used to help control erosion and improve soil fertility.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Laportea bulbifera is a small, white, star-shaped flower with five petals. The seed is a small, black, round seed. The seedlings are small, green, and have thin, pointed leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Laportea bulbifera is an evergreen shrub that is easy to propagate. It can be propagated from stem cuttings. Take a stem cutting from the plant and remove the lower leaves. Place the stem cutting in a pot filled with moist soil and keep it in a warm, humid place. The cutting should take root in a few weeks. Once the cutting has taken root, it can be transplanted into a larger pot.
Where to Find Laportea bulbifera
Laportea bulbifera is native to the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America, and South America.
