Description
Elatostema maculatum (also called Spotted Elatostema, among many other common names) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to China, Taiwan, and Vietnam. It grows in moist, shady habitats, such as forests, and has large, ovate leaves with long petioles and long, narrow sepals.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Elatostema maculatum has white flowers with yellow centers and small, black seeds. The seedlings are small and have a single, long, slender leaf.
Cultivation and Propagation
Elatostema maculatum can be propagated by division or cuttings. It can be grown in moist, well-drained soil and prefers partial shade. It is drought tolerant and can tolerate temperatures as low as -10°C (14°F).
