Description
Elatostema hygrophilifolium (also called Hydrophilic-leaved Elatostema, among many other common names) is a species of perennial herb native to China. It has a single, erect stem with narrow, lance-shaped leaves. It grows in moist, well-drained soils in open areas, such as roadsides, fields, and disturbed sites.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Elatostema hygrophilifolium has small, white flowers with five petals. The seeds are small, black and round. The seedlings have small, oval-shaped leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Elatostema hygrophilifolium is a tropical plant native to Southeast Asia. It can be grown in full sun or partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soils. Propagation is usually done by division of the rhizomes or by stem cuttings. It can also be propagated from seed, but this is not as common.
