Symplocos nigridentata (also called Black-toothed Symplocos, among many other common names) is a shrub that grows up to 4 meters tall. It is native to tropical regions of South America, Central America, and the Caribbean. It is found in moist forests, along streams, and in shady areas.

The flowers of Symplocos nigridentata are small and yellow, with four petals and a yellow center. The seeds are small and black, and the seedlings are dark green with a white stem.
