Description

Solanum oedipus (also called ‘Oedipus nightshade’, among many other common names) is a perennial herb native to the Chihuahuan Desert of northern Mexico and the southwestern United States. It has small, white flowers and small, round, green fruits. It grows in dry, sandy soils in desert scrub and grassland habitats.

Solanum oedipus is used as a food plant by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species, such as the Setaceous Hebrew Character and the Turnip Moth, and is also used as an ornamental plant.
