Description
Schistochila crinita (also called Crinite schistochila, among many other common names) is a species of liverwort found in the tropical regions of South America. It is a small plant, usually no more than a few millimeters in size, and grows in moist, shady areas, such as in the undergrowth of tropical forests.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Schistochila crinita has small, yellow-green flowers with a single ovary. Its seeds are small and black. Its seedlings have a single, heart-shaped leaf.
Cultivation and Propagation
Schistochila crinita is a small, evergreen, perennial liverwort that grows in mats or tufts. Propagation is by spore or by division of mats. Cultivation is best in moist, humus-rich, acid soil in partial shade.
