Description
Schismatoclada longistipula (also called Long-stipuled Schismatoclada, among many other common names) is a small shrub or tree native to Central and South America. It has small yellow flowers and grows in tropical and subtropical forests. It is found in Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Schismatoclada longistipula has small, white flowers with five petals. The seeds are small and black. The seedlings have long, thin leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Schismatoclada longistipula can be propagated by seed or cuttings. It prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Water regularly during the growing season, but reduce watering in winter. Fertilize once a year with a balanced fertilizer.
