Description
Schismatoclada coursiana (also called Cours' Schismatoclada, among many other common names) is a small shrub or tree native to Central and South America. It has small yellow flowers and grows in tropical and subtropical forests. It is found in Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The Schismatoclada coursiana has small yellow flowers that are clustered in umbels. The flowers are followed by small, round, green fruits that turn black when ripe. The seeds are small and black. The seedlings are small and have oval leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Schismatoclada coursiana can be propagated by seed or cuttings. It prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Water regularly during the growing season, but reduce watering in winter. Fertilize once a year with a balanced fertilizer.
