Description
Notopleura longissima (also called Long-stalked Notopleura, among many other common names) is a shrub or small tree, usually up to 6 m tall, with a dense, rounded crown. It is native to the tropical Andes of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela, where it grows in wet montane forests and cloud forests at elevations of 1000-3000 m.
Cultivation and Propagation
Notopleura longissima is a small evergreen tree that can reach up to 15 m in height. It prefers moist, well-drained soils and full sun. Propagation is by seed, which should be sown in spring in a well-drained, sandy soil. The seed should be soaked in warm water for 24 hours before sowing. Germination usually takes place within two to three weeks.
