Description
Mussaenda dinhensis (also called Dinh's Mussaenda, among many other common names) is a shrub or small tree, up to 8 m tall. It is native to tropical Africa and Madagascar. It is found in subtropical and tropical moist lowland forests.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Mussaenda dinhensis is a large, showy, yellow-green with brown spots and a long, curved spur. The seed is a small, black, round capsule. The seedlings are small, green, and have two cotyledons.
Cultivation and Propagation
Mussaenda dinhensis can be propagated by seed or cuttings. Seeds should be sown in a well-drained soil mix and kept at a temperature of around 25°C (77°F). Cuttings should be taken in the spring or summer and rooted in a well-drained soil mix. The plants should be kept in a warm, humid environment and should be watered regularly.
