Description
Ixora longistipula (also called Jungle Flame, Jungle Geranium, and Jungle Poinsettia, among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant in the Rubiaceae family. It is native to India, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia. It is an evergreen shrub typically growing to 3-4 m tall, with glossy, leathery leaves and clusters of bright red flowers.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Ixora longistipula has white, star-shaped flowers with yellow anthers. The seeds are small, black and round, and the seedlings are small and green with oval-shaped leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Ixora longistipula is a shrub that grows up to 3 m tall. It is native to India and is found in tropical and subtropical forests. It prefers moist, well-drained soils and full sun to partial shade. Propagation is by seeds or cuttings. Seeds should be sown in a warm, moist environment and cuttings should be taken from semi-ripe wood and planted in a well-drained medium.
