Description
Ixora lacei (also called Jungle Flame, Jungle Geranium, and Jungle Poinsettia, among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant in the Rubiaceae family. It is native to India, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia. It is an evergreen shrub typically growing to 3-4 m tall, with glossy, leathery leaves and clusters of bright red flowers.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Ixora lacei is a small, star-shaped flower with five petals, usually white or pink in color. The seed is a small, black, hard-shelled seed. The seedlings are small and delicate, with long, thin stems and small, light green leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Ixora lacei can be propagated by seed or cuttings. Seeds should be sown in a well-drained soil mix and kept moist. Cuttings should be taken from semi-hardwood stems and placed in a moist, well-draining soil mix. The cuttings should be kept in a warm, humid environment until they have rooted.
