Description
Guettarda retusa (also called 'Gutta-retusa' and 'Gutta-percha tree', among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant in the Rubiaceae family. It is native to the Caribbean, Central America and northern South America. It is found in tropical and subtropical moist lowland forests, tropical and subtropical moist montane forests, and disturbed areas.

Flower: small, white, fragrant, with 5 petals. Seed: small, black, round. Seedlings: thin, green, with long, narrow leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Guettarda retusa can be propagated by seed or division. Seeds should be sown in a well-drained, sandy soil mix and kept moist. Division can be done in spring or autumn. The plant should be dug up and divided into smaller sections, with each section having a few roots and some leaves. The sections should then be replanted in a well-drained soil mix.
