Description
Argostemma riparium (also called Riparian Argostemma, among many other common names) is a species of orchid native to Central America and South America. It is found in the tropical rainforests of Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. It is a terrestrial plant that grows in shady, humid, and wet places, usually near streams and rivers.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Argostemma riparium is small, white and star-shaped, with a yellow center. The seed is a small, dark brown, oval-shaped capsule. The seedlings are thin and delicate, with small, light green leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Argostemma riparium is a terrestrial orchid native to India. It is best grown in a warm, humid climate with bright, indirect light. It should be grown in a well-draining potting mix that is high in organic matter. The plant should be watered regularly, but allowed to dry out between waterings. Propagation is done by division of the rhizomes.
