Description
Rubus xichouensis (also called Xichou Bramble, among many other common names) is a deciduous shrub native to Europe and Asia. It has an upright, spreading habit and its leaves are oval-shaped and serrated. It produces white flowers in the summer and its fruits are small, red berries. It is found in open woodlands and along roadsides.

Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Rubus xichouensis has white flowers, each with five petals and numerous yellow stamens. The flowers are followed by small, round, red fruits, each containing one or two seeds. The seedlings have a single cotyledon and long, narrow, serrated leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Rubus xichouensis is a deciduous shrub that can be propagated from seed, cuttings, or layering. Seeds should be sown in a well-drained soil in a sunny location. Cuttings should be taken from mature wood in late summer or early fall and planted in a well-drained soil. Layering is best done in late winter or early spring. The rootstock should be healthy and vigorous.
