Description
Cotoneaster rechingeri (also called Rechinger's Cotoneaster, among many other common names) is a deciduous shrub native to the mountains of Central Asia. It grows to a height of 1-2 m and has small, ovate leaves. The flowers are white and have five petals. The fruits are red and have a single seed. It grows in open woods, rocky slopes, and grassy areas.

Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Cotoneaster rechingeri has small white flowers with five petals and a central boss of yellow stamens. The seeds are small, black and round. The seedlings have a single cotyledon and a pair of opposite, simple leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Cotoneaster rechingeri can be propagated by seed, cuttings or layering. Seeds should be sown in spring in a cold frame and the seedlings transplanted when they are large enough to handle. Cuttings of half-ripe wood can be taken in summer and should be rooted in a cold frame. Layering can be done in early spring or autumn.
