Aphanes maroccana (also called Morocco Paspalum, among many other common names) is a small annual grass native to North Africa. It has thin, wiry stems and small, oval-shaped leaves with pointed tips. It grows in dry, sandy soils in open grasslands, scrublands, and disturbed areas.

Cultivation and Propagation

Aphanes maroccana can be propagated by seed or cuttings. Seeds should be sown in spring in a cold frame. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and plant them out in the summer. Cuttings of half-ripe wood, 5 - 8cm with a heel, July/August in a frame. Softwood cuttings in spring in a frame. Layering in late summer. Division of suckers in the dormant season.
