Cultivation and Propagation

Alchemilla barbatiflora can be propagated by seed or by cuttings. Sow the seed in a cold frame as soon as it is ripe in the autumn. Stored seed should be pre-soaked for 24 hours in warm water and then given 3 months cold stratification. It usually germinates in the spring. Cuttings can be taken in the summer. Plant them out into their permanent positions in late spring or early summer, after the last expected frosts.
