Description
Potamogeton tennesseensis (also called Tennessee Pondweed, among many other common names) is a perennial aquatic plant native to North America. It is an evergreen, floating-leaved plant with small, ovate, dark green leaves. It grows in shallow, fresh water habitats, such as ponds, lakes, and slow-moving streams.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Potamogeton tennesseensis has small, white flowers with four petals and four sepals. Its seeds are small and black, and the seedlings have two oval-shaped cotyledons.
Cultivation and Propagation
Potamogeton tennesseensis can be propagated by division or cuttings. It prefers a moist, well-drained soil and partial shade. It is best grown in a container with a good quality potting mix. Water regularly and fertilize monthly during the growing season. Prune back in late winter or early spring to encourage new growth.
