Description
Stipa aliena (also called 'Alien Stipa', among many other common names) is a species of grass in the family Poaceae. It is a small, tufted grass with narrow, arching leaves and short, erect stems. It is native to tropical Africa, Madagascar, and the Mascarene Islands, and it is found in moist, shady habitats.

Stipa aliena is a perennial grass that grows in full sun to partial shade. It is tolerant of a wide range of soils, including clay, loam, and sand. It is drought tolerant and does not require much fertilizer. Propagation is by seed or division of the rhizomes.
