Description
Stipa academica (also called 'Academic Stipa', among many other common names) is a species of grass in the family Poaceae. It is a small, tufted grass with narrow, arching leaves and short, erect stems. It is native to tropical Africa, Madagascar, and the Mascarene Islands, and it is found in moist, shady habitats.

Stipa academica can be propagated by seed or by division of the rhizomes. Seeds should be sown in a well-drained, sandy soil mix and kept moist.
