Description

Schizostachyum virgatum (also called 'Virgatum', 'Virgatum Bamboo' and 'Virgatum Bambou', among many other common names) is a species of bamboo native to Southeast Asia. It is a clumping bamboo, growing up to 8 m tall with culms up to 5 cm in diameter. It grows in tropical and subtropical climates in both lowland and montane forests.

Uses & Benefits

Schizostachyum virgatum is used as an ornamental plant, for fuel, and for making furniture, flooring, and other wood products. The leaves can be used as fodder for livestock, and the plant can be used for soil conservation.
