Cultivation and Propagation
Sasa tatewakiana is a low-growing evergreen bamboo native to Japan. It is a clumping bamboo, meaning it does not spread aggressively. It grows best in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. Propagation is done by division of the clumps or by planting the rhizomes. The rhizomes should be planted in the spring, and the clumps can be divided in the spring or fall.
