Sasa megalophylla (also called 'large-leaved bamboo', 'large-leaved bamboo' and 'large-leaved bamboo', among many other common names) is a perennial evergreen bamboo native to Japan. It typically grows in moist, shady areas and is found in forests, woodlands, and disturbed sites. It has large, oval leaves and thick, woody stems.
