Description
Piptochaetium leiopodum (also called Leiopodum Feathergrass, among many other common names) is an annual grass native to the Americas. It grows to a height of 10-30 cm and has a slender, erect stem with a few branches. The leaves are linear and flat, with a pointed tip and a hairy surface. It is found in dry, sandy soils in open areas, such as prairies, meadows, and roadsides.

Piptochaetium leiopodum has been used for erosion control, as a soil stabilizer, and as a forage grass for livestock.

Piptochaetium leiopodum is a perennial grass native to the Southwestern United States and Mexico. It grows in dry, sunny areas and is tolerant of drought and heat. Propagation is best done by seed, which should be planted in the spring. The seed should be lightly covered with soil and kept moist until germination. Once established, the plant can be divided to create new plants.
